BlueFuse for Microarrays
Category Genomics>Gene Expression Analysis/Profiling/Tools
Abstract BlueFuse for Microarrays is an advanced software solution for the analysis of microarray expression and array-based Comparative Genomic Hybridization (arrayCGH) experiments.
Operation is simple and fully automated, saving time, removing human error and subjectivity, and ensuring experimental reproducibility. BlueFuse is an open platform which has been widely validated on cDNA, oligo and Bacterial Artificial Chromosome (BAC) arrays. Product features/capabilities include:
Bayesian Statistical Methods --
BlueFuse applies advanced Bayesian statistical methods developed at the University of Cambridge to the automation of microarray image analysis.
Since 2001 the underlying technology has been developed in close collaboration with major microarray facilities and research labs in the UK, US and Europe.
High Throughput Analysis --
Studies involving large numbers of arrays are easily managed as batches and processed fully automatically with a single click.
Large volumes of data can be processed using pre-defined protocols specifying the normalization and quality control criteria to be applied by BlueFuse during the analysis.
Advanced Signal Estimation --
BlueFuse’s advanced statistical modeling technology improves the estimation of weakly expressed genes that would previously have been lost to noise.
The dynamic range of the experiment is increased together with the amount of useful information extracted from each array.
Integration with Images --
With BlueFuse the raw experimental images are immediately accessible.
Check hybridization quality, highlight the probes indicating high fold changes, investigate experimental variation across an array using color- coded quality measures, and then zoom into the image to visually inspect results supporting critical research conclusions.
Comprehensive Quality Control --
BlueFuse generates individual quality measures for each spot and summary & quality information for each array.
Results from each stage of the analysis are automatically saved as tab delimited text files recording all experimental details, normalization and exclusion criteria and, in the case of arrayCGH experiments, a detailed summary of regions of copy number change.
Color-coding according to the quality measures improves the interpretation of results. All graphics may be printed or copied to the Windows clipboard for rapid recording and presentation of results.
A Complete Solution --
BlueFuse provides a sophisticated range of features for microarray image analysis. Grid alignment and signal estimation are followed by normalization to remove bias and exclusion rules to ensure that only reliable results are returned.
Replicates are combined and, in the case of arrayCGH experiments, regions of chromosomal abnormality are identified.
All data processing steps are completed automatically, saving time and ensuring complete reproducibility of results.
